The engineer is responsible for development and integration of advanced process automation solutions for fully the automated assembly lines for class 3 medical devices. This role extends from responsibilities for production integration and validation of automation equipment to developing the process automation solutions for the integration of the digital factory systems like MES. As a technical expert in complex MES functionality, the candidate will provide internal operational and development support as well as interface with international corporate teams, including machine & user interfaces, core system functionality, master data modeling & maintenance.
 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Work effectively at different levels of the organization and across various technical and operational departments.
  • Implementation of next generation automation equipment for assembly and inspection processes. Defining technical specifications with internal stakeholders, interacting with vendors and follow-through for the entire implementation process up until final site acceptance testing, including full ownership of qualification activities and technical and quality documentation.
  • Responsible for complex MES solutions in the areas of new automation equipment, new process or product introductions including scope definition, system and operational requirements, functional and detailed designs, software development and implementation, validation as well as project management and technical documentation.
  • Provide and manage production support for MES functions including SAP interfaces, process and electrical test automation interfaces, MES process modeling, MES functionality (transactions, user interfaces and custom routing and validation rules).
  • Consult about MES capabilities with supported departments, apply knowledge to implement innovative solutions and benchmark existing solution to industry standards, also in cooperation with international corporate teams.
  • Work within existing internal development and operations standards and procedures while also contributing to continuously improving and extending these standards and procedures.
Skills/ Experience Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
  • Structured problem solving skills and solution oriented, self-driven work style with high level of initiative are required.
  • Demonstrated capability of completing projects in the area of assembly or electrical test automation through production release is required.
  • Experience with integration and automation of manufacturing and test equipment into MES is preferred.
  • 2-3+ yrs. experience - experience with 24x7 manufacturing environment highly desired.
  • Understanding of object oriented programming (Java or C# preferred), SQL and database systems required.
  • Experience with working in environment with MES, ERP and BI enterprise systems is desired
  • Experience with process modeling in an MES or ERP environment highly desired.
  • Experience in software validation is highly desired.
  • Knowledge with troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems desired.
  • Experience in PLC, micro controller and/or robot programming is preferred.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Control/Automation Engineering or related discipline. Minors or double major in computer science or computer engineering preferred.
