Role & Opportunity: 

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Director of Product Safety & Energy Compliance who can maintain our strong commitment to product safety in a world of rapidly evolving technologies. 
 
The ideal candidate is a high achiever with a proven track record of ensuring that innovative electronics are safe and compliant without sacrificing cutting-edge functionality. A vision of a world-class product safety program and the program skills to carry it through is a must. 
 
This is a senior level position leading the team responsible for:
  • Proving compliance with all applicable safety standards
  • Accurately predicting our products will be used and misused and Identifying Safety-Critical components and systems associated with those predictions
  • Guiding product design to effectively eliminate or mitigate hazards across a broad scope of uses
  • Working with great teams and global certification bodies to deliver regulatory approvals on time and on budget for markets throughout the world, concentrating on designing-in compliance, cost-effective problem-solving and cross-functional team dynamics
  • Running an end to end Product Safety Management System

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal skills
  • Able to present to Executive Management 
  • Able to achieve success through partnering with multiple teams on a cross-functional scale
  • Expert-level knowledge of the product safety regulatory system 
  • Experience with international product safety standards
  • Experience in working with third-party test labs
  • Demonstrated successful and progressive leadership experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of forensic safety and hazard-based analysis
  • Able to manage a team of 7+ professionals -- inspire, and develop their careers
  • Understands when to escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Adept at communicating difficult or sensitive information effectively
  • Committed to maintaining a team culture, which emphasizes a growth mindset and serious fun at work 
 
Background:
  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in Engineering (BS Electrical, Mechanical or Human Factors Engineering).
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering compliance management with proven success in identifying and solving issues not addressed in minimum product safety and energy standards
  • Demonstrated team builder, with experience managing teams (7+ professionals)
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in Engineering 
  • 10 + years of engineering compliance management
